Snotgreen Sea - demos (1986)

Snotgreen Sea were from the Bay Area. Their sound is complete Avant-Garde noise, no rock 'n' roll here. The songs have vocals, organ, trumpet and occasionally distorted guitar. I don't think the band ever released a record.

Pop-O-Pies - Demos 1981 + Transfer, Los Angeles 3-21-85

The demos is 4 different versions of the song Truckin'. I think the last one is a live version. On track 4 the DJ and the band play a tape a record and talk all at the same time so it's not easy to decipher what's going on. I also don't know if any of these versions is the one from the record. It's from a radio broadcast and has excellent sound quality. The live show was recorded from the audience and has good sound quality. Can anyone fill in the song titles?

Savage Republic - Los Angeles + Demos 1981-1985

The Parking Garage demo is an early recording of the band. The Anti Club show is a special show that featured reunions of some of the previous bands the SR members were in. Three songs from this show were officially released on an LP collection in 1989. The Los Angeles Radio show is an audience recording and may not be from a Radio concert at all, but that's what the tape says. The Ceremonial demo sounds like it was recorded live at a band practice and is from a radio broadcast. All have good sound quality. Can anyone fill in the unknown song titles?

Eyes - Masque, Los Angeles 11-01-77

The Eyes were one of L.A.s early Punk bands and are probably most known for the fact that Charlotte Caffey, who made it big with the Go Gos, was an original member. This original line up only released one song on the What Records 7" ep sampler in 1978 (http://www.discogs.com/Eyes-The-Controllers-The-Skulls-Untitled/release/1874412). One further studio track from this line up was released on the What? Stuff compilation CD in 1998 (http://www.discogs.com/Various-What-Stuff/release/2329905). In 1996 a six song live set, recorded in early 1978, was released in the Live From The Masque vol. 3 CD. This live set features 4 of the songs that have been released plus a Sonny & Cher cover and five songs that haven't been heard anywhere else. This is an audience recording and the sound quality is good. Even thought the tape says 11-01-77, I believe this show happened December 21, 1977, same show as the Flesheaters show I posted a while ago.

T.S.O.L. - Demo 1980 + Live 1981

The demo is a muddy copy but still sounds pretty good. The City Gardens show came without a specific date but I have a copy of this same recording, from a few years ago, that is dated November 7, 1981. That copy and this copy are the same up to the song Word Is but on the other tape that song fades out and then versions of Silent Scream and Code Blue are played. The versions of those songs on that tape are different from the versions on this tape. So, it seems, someone added those on from a different source. This is the complete version of this show.. It's a soundboard recording and the sound quality is excellent.

Castration Squad - KPFK, Los Angeles 12-80

This band featured some members who had been involved in the Los Angeles Punk scene since the beginning. The line up is: Shannon Wilhelm - vocals, Mary Bat-Thing - vocals (pre-45 Grave), Tiffany Kennedy - keyboard , Tracy Lea - guitar (pre-Red Cross), Alice Armendariz - bass (ex-Bags), Elissa Bello - drums (ex-Go Go's). They never released any records and weren't around for very long. But this live show and a couple videos exist to prove the band once existed. This is from a radio broadcast and the sound quality is excellent.

Germs - Cherrywood Studios, Los Angeles 1-03-80

This is an audience recording of the by invitation only show the Germs played for the filming of the Decline Of Western Civilization. The recording is rough and the vocals are almost inaudible. Also, whoever recorded this stopped the tape recorder between every song so it's very choppy. Still an interesting document.
